William Wright
Submitted by: Robert N. Grant

Dan's listing for William Wright who died in 1806 at Fauquier County, Virginia, is partially incorrect.   I believe he took his information from Charles Hoppin's articles and book, which incorrectly listed 1806 (year of death) William Wright of Fauquier County (place of death) as a son of 1792 John Wright of Fauquier County.   That 1806 William Wright was born in 1740, which would make him too young to have been the William who was the son of 1792 John Wright of Fauquier County.   That William, the son of 1792 John, was living on his own land and married to Mary Grant in 1751.   1740 William Wright was only 11 years old at that time.

So there were two William Wrights, one of whom was 1806 William Wright of Fauquier County and was born in 1740 and came from York County and the other of whom was the son of 1792 John Wright of Fauquier County and married Mary Grant by 1751.

I have collected a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence identifying the William Wright who was the son of 1792 John Wright of Fauquier County as 1809 William Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, and would be happy to share that information with other interested researchers.
