7 Nov 2006 - Learned something new today while I was at the Genealogy Society here in town: You have the Obituary about Mary Emaline Shipman [posted], but I did not know who she and her huasband belonged to - so I started looking at marriages in Keokuk Co, IA.

Marriage papers said George Elmer Shipman, age 27, born in Indiana, married Mary Emaline Darling, age 20, daughter of Henry & Mary Ellen (Fry) Darling. Married 9 Jul 1887.

[George Elmer Shipman] Gravestone shows Born 1868 (Thornburg, Iowa) and died 1930. [Mary Emaline] gravestone shows "Born 1862" (Indiana), and died 1936 (George E.)

Marriage License has George is son of Israel & Mary (Scott) Shipman - Did not know about this son, but found page in Family Bible that has his name in it along with William H, James J, Edward R, Elizabeth Cathrine, Elizabeth, Alace A, Josiah West, Charles M, Lucy M, Israel Arthur, John James and Grant.

I know that George and Mary had 4 girls and 1 boy for sure.

1895 Census in Iowa has listed:
George Shipman, age 33
Mary, age 25
Emmet, age 12

Going to have to do some more checking on this stuff.
