E-Mail Footprints

New E-Mail Address for Footprints

Due to new changes in E-Mail requirements and their restrictions by JUNO, we have had to make a change in our E-Mail service.

Please note that wherever our e-mail address is listed as "footprints@juno" on our web pages, that service is no longer available.

Current E-Mail addresses for personal and web page uses:

For Genealogy Use - It is important that you use the SUBJECT line: The subject line will tell us which folder to store it in to be worked on. If there is no subject line (one of the following) the message will go into the general file and be answered as it comes up.

In Subject line, Use:

  1. In Search Of
  2. History
  3. Charts
  4. Web Problem
  5. Broken Links
  6. Photograph

Please do not send attachments unless you previously notify footprints. In the event you have forgotten, or did not know, it is possible to send text files as part of your message. If you are sending a file from Word Perfect, MS Word, or any word processor, or a text file, it can be sent in the open as part of the message in the following manner. This will then be part of the message and will not need it to be sent as an attachment.

  1. Write your message in your word processor.
  2. Highlight the entire file, click on Edit and then "copy". (copies to your clipboard)
  3. Open your E-Mail service, enter the address, then click on Edit, then "paste" the file.

Photographs, may be sent as an attachment. However the contamination of computers by virus' has been expanded so much that we have to use caution before opening any attachments. So many of the current virus' now days are hitting computers without warning and before McAfee, Norton or any of the Anti Virus programs can detect them. We are now extremely cautious about opening an attachment. Having said that, it is very important for us to be able to receive photographs. As many of you know we have recently been devastated with a virus. For this reason we will not open any attachments unless you use the following procedures.

First, check your e-mail program and see if you have a graphics button. If so, you can use it to place the photograph in the body of the message, eliminating the need for an attachment. As a last resort, send it as an attachment, BUT......

  1. In the subject line use: PHOTOGRAPH.
  2. Include the name or names of the individuals in the body of the message.
  3. Include your full name and e-mail ID in the body of the message.

It is possible that any of the above may change. For this reason, you may want to check this file periodically.

If you have a web page that has photographs that I am allowed to use, then let us know and we can download directly from there.
